ML Traffic Engineers is a New Zealand based firm of established
transportation planning and traffic engineering specialists. We prepare traffic impact reports to
support resource consent applications. The need for resource consent is generally
triggered by a change of use or an intensification of use. Our role is to assist you with achieving
compliance with New Zealand standards and providing an appropriate response
on access, car-parking, site circulation and traffic impacts. With over 23
years’ experience over a very broad gamut of land uses and range of
developments (small schemes and large schemes), we are in a position to
provide you with value focused and timely advice. We
support architects, lawyers, town planners, surveyors, builders, business
operators / owners and individuals. We
assist Councils and Road Authorities with peer reviews of other parties’
traffic engineering related submissions.
We consider subtle variations that may exist between different local
government authorities. Every traffic
engineering assessment considers relevant local planning context. We are experienced with a very broad range of land uses – apartments,
bars, car washes, cafes / restaurants, child care centres,
catteries / dog kennels, community centres, fitness
centres / gymnasiums, galleries, drive-through
premises (fast food, coffee, alcohol sales), hotels (accommodation) / motels,
industrial units, industrial subdivision, licensed premises (gaming halls,
tavern), medical centres, mine-site traffic
management, mixed-use sites (residential and commercial), night clubs,
offices, places of worship, recreational facilities, residential
subdivisions, residential master plans, school traffic management, school
master plans, shops, shopping centre developments, supermarkets, tuition centres and warehouses. We assess and provide design input into access, parking, on-site
vehicle maneuverability and site servicing layouts to the requirements of NZS
2890.1 and NZS 2890.2. Common issues include sight-lines to pedestrians
(vertical and horizontal) on the footpath, appropriate ramp grades and
transitions, vertical clearance at sag grade transitions, turning circles at
changes of direction, access into car spaces from sub-standard width access ways,
column setbacks, ramp widths and queuing space (inbound and outbound). We prepare swept path diagrams using AutoTURN. A requirement of resource consent may
include the ability of the design vehicle to enter the site, internally
maneuver and exit the site in a forward direction. We have templates for cars (B85 and B99
dimensioned), rigid trucks and articulated vehicles. We prepare construction traffic management plans (CTMP) to the
requirements of NZS 1742.3. We provide hands-on approach to every one of our projects. We are
confident in being able to provide constructive input on traffic engineering
matters from feasibility stages, right through to planning application
submissions and, where circumstances dictate, provide expert witness representation
at environment court hearings. Has Council or the NZ Transport Agency asked you to submit a report
involving an assessment of car parking, rubbish vehicle access and/or traffic
impact issues to be prepared by a suitably qualified traffic engineer or
transportation consultant? Are you looking for experienced transportation consultants / transport
planners / traffic engineers with relevant planning related exposure and
in-depth knowledge of statutory requirements? Are you seeking a quotation for consultancy services on traffic
engineering or transportation planning matters? Everything begins with a conversation.
To gain an understanding of the way forward on traffic engineering,
access or parking issues with your resource consent application, or for
